Understanding Achilles Pain

Achilles pain treatment in East Grinstead & Reigate

Achilles pain is often the result of tendonitis, overuse or strain on the Achilles tendon, which connects your calf muscle to your heel bone. This pain can develop gradually due to repetitive activities or suddenly from an injury. In some cases, factors like tight calf muscles, poor footwear or improper technique can contribute to Achilles issues.

Our osteopathy approach addresses the root causes of your pain, focusing on relieving tension, supporting recovery and reducing the risk of future injury.

We begin by discussing your symptoms, daily activities, and any potential contributing factors like sports or footwear. This case history helps us customise the treatment to your specific needs and goals.

Your osteopath will perform a physical examination of your Achilles tendon, calf muscles and ankle to assess range of motion, flexibility and areas of tenderness. This assessment provides us with insight into the underlying issues affecting your Achilles tendon.

All of our osteopath services offer a treatment plan included within the initial consultation.

Based on your case history and examination, we’ll develop a tailored treatment plan that addresses your pain and supports recovery. This plan may include specific exercises, stretches and recommendations on footwear or activity modifications to help prevent re-injury.

Your treatment may include gentle techniques such as soft tissue release, joint mobilisation, and targeted stretching to relieve tension in the Achilles tendon and surrounding muscles. Each session is designed to reduce pain, restore mobility and support your journey back to full activity.

We offer a free 15-minute phone call to discuss whether Osteopathy may be suitable for you.

  • Initial appointment with an Osteopath: £75.
    • Appointments typically last between 45 minutes and 1 hour.
    • Including full history, examination and some treatment.
  • Follow-up appointments: £58
    • Appointments are 30 minutes long.
    • Including treatment and any re-examination if needed.

Please note we are cleaning between each appointment and leaving some additional 15-minute gaps during the day to do additional cleaning.

Payment can be made via credit or debit card, online payment or bank transfer.

We are registered with all major healthcare providers including AXA, WPA, Vitality, HSA, and Allianz. Unfortunately, it is no longer viable to accept BUPA patients (with the exception of BUPA global healthcare). Receipts can be given to allow you to reclaim your appointment fees from your healthcare provider.

Liz is friendly and professional. She has kept me and my family fit and well for many years. In her inimitable way she keeps my body moving so that I can enjoy all my activities and repairs the damage I do to it. She also sets realistic exercises for me to do at home with back up emails to show diagrams of these exercises. Liz has also recommended books for self- help. I don't buy all of these but borrow from the Library. Thanks for everything.

Been to a few various osteopaths and never had any real change with my own symptoms, I then continued to search and found Remedy Health clinic, I met Elizabeth Duffin who treated me for my back, She done such an amazing job to relieve some of my back symptoms! With good advice on keeping certain exercises up to help me. I will continue with Elizabeth and recommend anyone with issues to get intouch.

Professional, knowledgeable, friendly and punctual. Liz is always open to trying different types of treatments and always treats the whole person rather than just treating the one area of the body that ails you!

I have been seeing Liz for years now for knee and back issues and she never fails to make everything better! I probably wouldn’t be able to ski anymore without her, which is an awful thought! She has also got me through 2x pregnancies and made the hip and back pain totally bearable. I would 100% recommend her.

I have been going to Liz for a few years now. She has always been extremely helpful and provides an excellent service. I see her as and when needed to keep my back/shoulders/neck from causing me issues, with the odd preventative session thrown in too. Highly recommended!
